Chapter 50: Holy Days in Forgotten Hollow

Image
Winterfest has always been one of Valentine's favourite holydays, or holy days, as the count puts it. The gifts, his family, the decorations... but this year, none of those things are an option. With Christmas hosting, the celebration will start early, and even if it goes on until late, Valentine isn't sure how his family will react to his presence. Besides, the count has other plans for him this year, as this day marks the anniversery of his turning. "It is your birthing day," the count tells him. "So we shall host a gathering to mark the occasion. Your sire will attend as well." "Vatore?" It had been so long since he was even mentioned, Valentine had given up hope to ever sit down and talk to his sire. "It would be impolite of him not to attend when an invitation has been extended." A part of Valenting wants to protest, to say that he really wants to at least show himself late at night to his family, but the count's reactions after ...

"Thanks a million for letting me stay here," Harmony told Rory and Sandy as they brought her home with them after Sunny's birthday party. "Are you sure I'm not going to get in your way?" "Of course you're not," Sandy says as they sit down in the living room. "We'll move one desk back to where it was when Sunny was still living at home, and set up a mattress for you in his old room. We have one of those inflatable ones, they're quite comfy." Being tired, it was easy to just crawl into bed, shut her eyes and fall asleep. She couldn't her luck, it had happened so fast. Tomorrow Sandy would show her all the best places to explore. She makes the decision that she'll stay until Christmas, return home for the holidays and then see where she will be off to next. Over the next few days, Harmony settles in well. Sandy and Rory have their routines. Every morning Rory gets up before dawn, studies the stars, then makes breakfast fo...

Chapter 47: Loneliness is not limited to mortals

It's not only Sunny who feels the weight of the separation between parents and child. Valentine too miss his parents, and wants to let them into his life. He just doesn't know how. In his, arguably naive, dreams, he never made the transition to vampire alone. With him was his family. His parents and his grandparents at the very least, and their reaction to his own transition hurt him. For so long he planned this, and yet no one seemed to believe he was serious. Well maybe aunt Willow, but then she was different, more open to the occult. So Valentine decides that Louis and Lena has a point, that it's easier to just keep to himself, and it's easy enough. He lives far away, is only awake at night, and keeps himself busy with hunting and learning to master and explore his powers. Most days he's happy with this, wrapped up in his own development and dead tired when morning arrives. He's found out he has an affinity for your women when feeding, especially beautiful on...
