Chapter 17: Holiday Celebrations
Having built her new house, Willow really wants to host the Harvestfest celebration this year. Of course Charles and Candice cannot deny her this, and she goes all out in decorating her house, and her green house, and even the little gazebo.

Inside is just as decorated, and as people file in, Willow is hard at work with the tofurkey.

Without a dining table people eat sitting in the sofa, or standing up, but then there were never enough seats anyway in Charles' an Candice's either, so that's not much news. Willow really enjoy seeing the house filled with people, especially seeing her mother being back to her old self, if a bit more gray than she used to be.

Summer is pregnant again. Her and Travis' third.

The next day, Willow checks out patchy - the scare crow that she bought as a harvest fest. It does look kind of funny. She stays around cracking jokes with the straw man, then heads back inside to check on Christmas, not noticing the extra help she just gotten herself just yet.

Inside she finds Christmas being royally entertained by her uncle Neo. Apart from the fact that she seems to loose items every time he comes to visit, Willow just cannot bring herself to see her brother as a criminal. And Christmas thinks the world of her uncle.

"Is Uncle Neo the strongest man alive?" she asks Willow later as she's teaching her numbers.
"No, there are others who are probably stronger. But he's very strong."
"I think he's the strongest." Christmas says firmly.

She's also enjoying her new friend, Patchy, who never fails to come into her room after being finished with tending the garden.

When Olivia comes over, he sits still in the chair. "That's an odd toy," she comments, as she plays dolls with Christmas. Christmas giggles. "Patchy is not a toy, he's my friend!" she says. Of course Olivia doesn't believe her.

The one thing Christmas can't figure out is why her new friend keeps hitting her teddy bear. "She hasn't done anything wrong," she says. "She's a good unicorn."
"I don't like unicorns," Patchy says. "They are horses, and horses eat my straw."
"But uni wouldn't eat you! She's a toy, not a horse!"
"You don't know that!" Patchy says, hitting her again for good measure.

When he leaves, Christmas tries to make it up to Unicorn by explaining the situation to her. "I know you're a toy and not a real horse. Adults are just strange sometimes, they just don't understand what's real or not."

In Oasis Springs, Sandy and Rory are working hard to advance in their careers. It's paying off, and their first rocket is ready to launch. Before they send it off far, they take a test sprin, joining the 50-mile-high club while they're at it.

But their working hours come with drawbacks, especially for Sunny. While the family has plenty of time for breakfast in the morning, afternoons and evenings require Sunny to manage on his own. He eats left overs from the fridge, then spend time playing with friends who loves coming to his house as there are never any parents around. Sometimes they don't do their homework until the sun is already set.

So when Sandy gets her next promotion, she's mostly happy about the change of working hours than anything else.

Finally she's able to come home at (almost) the same time as Sunny, actually spending time with her son. For the first time, she feels like she has some balance in her life, doing things just like other mothers. Simple things like cooking dinner, eating dinner together or helping with homework.

For Sunny he's mostly happy that his friends still want to come over even though his mom is at home. And better yet that both his parents are fine with all his friends being there at once. As a social butterfly, he has lots of friends and some weekends they all file into the house at once.

But while he has a lot of friends, seeing his younger cousin is always fun as well, so as Winterfest comes around he is thrilled to be heading over to his cousins house again where all the autumn decor is changed into winter decor. Willow is a good cook (better than mom and dad) so Sunny takes two plates. At once. And yes, it might be a bit hard to eat that way, but that's what he wants, so there!

For Christmas this is the first time she meets her daddy. Willow is a bit nervous about that, but tries not to show it. But Father Winter shows up, leaves his gifts, leave a few ho-ho-ho and is generally as friendly as he ever is, but not more so towards Christmas than anyone else. She is mostly sleepy, and wants to go to bed, and so Willow tucks her in while Santa places his presents. She can open hers tomorrow if she wants.

After she's put Christmas to bed, Willow talks to Father Winter. "She seems a healthy child."
"She's a happy child."
"My children always are," Father Winter says, before offering her a more traditional Winterfest present this time around before heading off to another house.
"By the way," he adds. "Cassandra Goth seems a sweet young woman, should I ask her out?"
"I don't think I'm the right person to ask that," Willow replies.
"Ho, ho, ho," Father Winter answers as he vanishes through the chimney.
